What is Forest School  About Forest Schools  What we Do  Testimonials  Contact Us

In our busy world and lives, sometimes we forget that it has always been nature that has taught us. At Sussex Forest School our ethos is ‘nurturing through nature’, and our key inspiration for the holistic development of children, is allowing nature to be the teacher. Through this approach we believe that kids are able to flourish in an ever-changing world and connect with all the wonderful benefits that nature brings.

There is now much research supporting the role of the outdoors and nature in the education and development of children.

Some of the benefits of forest school are:

1  Develops the whole child in all areas of intelligence
2  Improves motivation for learning
3  Develops Gross Motor Skills & Fine Motor skills
4  Improves understanding and respect of the natural world
5  Develops positive relationships with themselves and others
6  Improves confidence and self esteem

‘Wow - what a brilliant day with Bucks Forest School. We are a primary special needs school in High Wycombe and it was wonderful to see all our children accessing and thoroughly enjoying the range of activities - thank you! It was a delight to see their creativity and natural inquisition shine through nature and I can't wait for you to come back and work with the children again.' Cate - Teacher, Chiltern Gate School.
